Sermon Summary:
Bought With Price: 1 Corinthians 6:13-20 (05-06-11)
Christianity is all about grace, the grace of our Lord Jesus
Christ; it is all about forgiveness and love. Grace is unmerited favor given by
God that you don’t deserve it. Many Christians have taken this freedom for
granted and live as they wish. The church in Corinth does the same; they
understood that even if they continue in sin of stealing, drinking, lying,
adultery, and fornication yet grace will cover it all. Paul has to challenge
the believers not to continue in sin (Romans 6:1-2). How can you sin again and
again and still be a Christian. You shall be known by your fruits
(Matthew 7:20).Though salvation is free gift Jesus has to suffer, died and pay
for it. If you are a genuine Christian you are not your own, you have been
bought with price and you belongs to Christ, your body is His temple (dwelling
place of God) your body is not for pleasure and leisure of this world, so honor
and love God with your body, heart, soul, and mind. Live a holy life for God is
holy (1 Peter 1:16). Grace is not a license to sin but a freedom to serve God in
a godly way.
What have you done?: 1 Thessalonians 1:1-3 (12-06-11)
Paul in his second missionary journey came through different
hardships and trials, with much afflictions he came to Thessalonians and there
he preached for three weeks, and left for Corinth. While in Corinth he wonders
how the young church might be. But Timothy brought the good news that the
church is growing in the Lord. (1 Thess 3:1,2). Paul was thankful for the faith
they have in Christ, they work hard and continue in the service of God in love inspite of all the troubles, and their hope of meeting Christ was unmovable.
The simple challenge to the fact is, what have you done for the Lord since you
were born again. How is your faith growing in the Lord? How is your love for
God and love for others? (Matthew 22:37-39). Jesus is coming back one day, are
you waiting for the time, are you taking this good news to others. As a
Christian let us grow in faith, lets labor with love and hope for His coming.
Lesson from the ants: Proverbs 6: 3-11 (19-06-11)
The bible says, if a person is lazy let
him go to the ants and learn from her. It is interesting to know why God use a tiny
ant to teach a super being. Let’s see some facts about the ants – size of the
ant is about 5-10mm but can carry a load about 20 times heavier than its
weight,- they are social being, millions of ants live together in one colony in
harmony, they know their own duty.
When the loads are too heavy everyone join hands to carry
the load. An Ant can build a house 50 times bigger than its body. This tiny
animal is selfless, she loves giving, it is learn that the two stomachs in ants
is with a specific purpose, the lessor stomach is feed himself while the bigger
is a storage for others. Their life span is just 45-60 days, he work so hard
for himself and for others. They are very busy insects, they never waste their
time, we never see ants sat down whole day long, they keep moving in search of
food. During summer they gather and prepare all their food and by winter they
all enjoy inside their palace.
The bible says it is good to stay united (psalm 133:1). Let
us use our time wisely (Ephesian 5:16). Human life span is just seventy to
eighty years only (psalm 90:10). Let us keep in mind that, No work no food
(2thes3:10). If we eat without work we commit sin, so let’s work and eat and
keep busy in our duty and also in the work of Christ.
Preach the Gospel: Romans 1:14-17 (26-06-11)
In this passage Paul is talking about the gospel that he received, then, what is this gospel? Many of us are confuse to explain the gospel. In simple and most powerfully way gospel is the death, burial and resurrection according to the scripture (1corinthian 15:1-4). God saved us when we confess Jesus as our master and no one else and believe in our heart (not head) that God had raised him from the death (Romans 10:9). Paul understood himself as a debtor because he was a chief sinner saved by grace (1Tim1:12-15). He didn’t earn his salvation (Ephesians 2:8,9). He received it freely so, he was ready and eager to preach to all people anywhere, anytime at any circumstances freely.
He was not ashamed of the gospel because it was the power of God unto salvation, Gospel is not only written message but there is power in it. He had planted many churches but it was not with his skill, eloquence or style of speech rather he use the simple gospel that Jesus love us so he gave his life for our sin, he was buried but on the third day he overcome the death, the bible says if we believed this God will raise us up. (1Thess 4:14). Why are we not sharing this good news to others? Why are we so stingy. Do you think that you earn your salvation with your work or money? We received it freely so let’s give it out to others.
Think about your friends, family members, relatives, near and dear ones. If they die without Christ, where will they spent their eternity, yes, in hell. Then why do you keep this good news for yourself. Take courage to share this good news and be a blessed person to others. May our Lord Jesus Christ continue to use you.
