Sermon Summary:
The importance of God’s word: Colossians 3:14-17 (01 May 2011)
The word of God is so important in Christian life, which is why Apostle Paul urges the believers to be indwelt richly with the word of God. Col.3: 16. How can one be strong in the Lord? How can he overcome temptations in his life? In the Old Testament parents know the importance of the word of God and they are really serious in teaching their children with the word of God (Duet 6:5-9). The bible says young man can live a holy life by memorizing the word of God (Psalms 119:9-11) and the word of God will guide his ways (Psalms 119:105). One can be a strong and faithful Christian only when the word of God abides in him. (1 John 2:14.) Pastor challenges the students to read the bible every day, memorize and to meditate upon it.
The influence of godly mother: Proverbs 6:20-23 (08 May 2011)
Everyone has a special heart for their mother. Mother’s advices and instructions are special and every Christians need to value it, the bible tells, to tie the mother’s instructions about their neck (Proverbs 6:21). No one is interested in tying a rob around their neck rather everyone goes for a silver, gold, or diamond chain, because they are valuable. Since his childhood Moses was nursed by his Hebrew mother so, “By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; “(Hebrews 11:24-25). Every believer needs to remember their mother and be thankful to God for what she had done in their life and to keep up the promise they made and to live a life glorifying God.
Waiting upon God: Isaiah 40:29-30 (15 May 2011)
There are times when a situation brings a person down, and it seems everything is over, nothing is going to come back and all the promises seem gone, i.e. helpless and hopeless situation. But the word of God is still strong and encouraging the believers to wait upon the Lord and he shall renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31). Think about this - Abraham has to wait for more than 25 years after God promise to give him a land and a child (Genesis 12:4, 17:1). David has to wait for more than 15 years to be crowned as king after he was anointed by Samuel. It takes patience, determination, longsuffering and humility. One needs to be faithful in his work, not to sit and wait. Do the best and leave the rest to God. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD (Psalm 27:14).
Christian Testimony: Acts 16:16-34 (22 May 2011)
For the faithful Christian their life itself is a message to the people, the world can see Christ through their life. Life of Paul is so influential; many lives were change through his ministry and sometimes in onetime meeting. Conversion of the Philippian jailer is a mystery, Paul never preached to him before, but he was singing and praising God with Silas in prison joyfully, he didn’t escape even when the prison doors were open, faithfully he was bearing the cross of Lord Jesus Christ, the world is observing the church. The jailer did the same, after seeing the heart of Paul the jailer says what must I do to be saved? Paul says call upon the name of the Lord; he points him to God (Romans 10:9, 13). May the church member’s life be a channel of blessings to the people around and win the soul for Christ. Point them to Christ, and say Jesus saves.
The Love of God: Romans 8:35-39 (29 May 2011)
It really wonderful to have the one and only God our savior and it is wonderful to know that he is so loving and gracious. Our God himself is love and He loved us first (1 John 4:8, 19). The love of God is so different from the human love; His love for the mankind is so strong that nothing can separate Him from loving the world, not even by tribulation, not by space, principalities, power nor by death. One can feel this deep love only when he accepts Christ as our savior. Paul had gone through different hardships, trials and threats in his life (2 Corinth 11:22-30), yet he can boldly say he is more than a conqueror, because he had experienced, feel and knew the love of God, that is why He is persuaded that God loved him and nothing can separate him from the love of God. His love is bigger than ones greatest sin, if a person comes to Him He forgives no matter how great is the sin committed. This loving and gracious God is none other than the God of the Bible. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13). So, love Him as He wants His children ought to be. “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” (Matthew 22:37).
